How do I choose between the 30A, 40A, and 50A BMS options?
Match the BMS to your motor wattage and controller peak current. The 30A BMS is ideal for motors up to 1000W; the 40A BMS easily powers up to 1200W systems; and the 50A BMS is designed for high-torque 1500W motors. Choosing a higher BMS current will not hurt your motor, but your BMS continuous rating must always be equal to or higher than your controller's current draw.
Will a 5A fast charger degrade the Samsung 50G cells faster?
No. This pack is built in a 6-parallel (6P) configuration with genuine Samsung 21700 50G cells. A 5A charge current is split across 6 cells, meaning each cell receives less than 0.84A. Samsung rates these cells for up to 2.45A standard charge, so 0.84A is well within the gentle, cell-safe range while still delivering a full recharge in roughly 6 hours.
What mobile app connects to the smart JBD BMS, and what can it do?
You can use free apps like Xiaoxiang (Elephant) BMS or Overkill Solar (available on iOS and Android). Through Bluetooth, you can monitor individual cell voltages in real time, check internal pack temperatures, track total cycle count, and remotely disable discharge or charge ports as a software-level anti-theft safeguard.
Is this battery waterproof enough for heavy rain and mud?
The pack features internal rigid epoxy boards and heavy-duty outer PVC heat shrink with liquid sealant applied at both top and bottom wire exits. It resists road spray, puddle splashing, and light rain. However, like any PVC-wrapped custom pack, it should not be submerged or left out in torrential downpours. We recommend keeping it inside a water-resistant frame bag or protective enclosure for extreme wet riding.
Will this pack fit inside my bicycle frame triangle?
The nominal pack dimensions are 230 × 135 × 75 mm (9.1 × 5.3 × 3.0 in) and weight is approx. 4.5 kg (9.9 lbs). Because each pack is hand-insulated with rigid epoxy sheets and dual-sealed, please allow an extra 3 to 5 mm of craft clearance when planning your battery box, triangle bag, or mounting bracket.
How does cold weather riding affect this 36V 30Ah battery?
You can discharge and ride safely down to -20°C (-4°F), though sub-freezing temperatures temporarily reduce effective mileage by 15% to 25% due to electrochemical resistance. Important charging rule: never charge the pack below 0°C (32°F). Always bring the battery inside and allow it to reach room temperature before plugging in the 42V 5A charger.
