Sur-Ron Light Bee Battery Upgrade Guide
Choose by controller first, then by compartment size. This guide lists what each pack actually delivers, so you can check fit before you order.
Quick answer: Stock controller, choose 60V 30Ah. Aftermarket controller such as Torp or EBMX, choose 72V 30Ah. Larger e-moto frame, check the 72V 50Ah size first, it is not a Light Bee drop-in.
Step 1: Choose Your System Voltage
60V Lineup
Use this if you keep the stock Sur-Ron controller. Do not order 72V for a stock bike.
- Stock controller: Stay on 60V, full charge 67.2V.
- Charger: 67.2V 5A, check your charger label first.
- Range: 30Ah is 1800Wh, 40Ah is 2400Wh.
72V Lineup
Use this only if your controller accepts 72V nominal, 84V full charge.
- Power: Depends on the BMS you choose, see Step 3.
- Top speed: Higher than 60V on the same gearing, actual speed varies by motor and gearing.
- Smart Bluetooth BMS: Check live cell voltage in the Xiaoxiang app.

Step 4: Controller And Connector Compatibility
Controller Pairing
Use your controller battery current limit, not motor peak current, to choose a BMS. The BMS continuous current must be at or above what your controller actually draws from the battery.
- Stock OEM Controller: Use 60V 30Ah packs. Check your controller voltage range first.
- Torp TC500 / EBMX X-9000: Check their battery current limit, then match it to a 72V 30Ah BMS tier or a 60V 40Ah tier.
- Fardriver / BAC8000 class: Use 72V 50Ah with 150A or 200A BMS only if your controller actually draws that much. A bigger BMS alone does not make a small controller faster.
Connectors
Match the connector to your controller, and match it to your BMS current.
- Sur-Ron OEM Connector: For 60V stock setups, if your controller uses it.
- QS8 Anti-Spark Connector: For 72V high-power setups.
- Anderson SB50: Rated 50A. Do not choose it for a 60A or higher BMS tier, because the connector then becomes the bottleneck. Choose QS8 or QS10 for those tiers.
- Other options: XT90-S, XT60, QS10, and wire only are available on most packs. Tell us your controller connector when you order.
Fitment And Lid Riser Guidelines
Sur-Ron Light Bee stock battery compartment is listed in the original guide as approx. 150mm x 140mm x 380mm. Treat that as a starting point only. Measure your own compartment in length, width, and height before ordering, and leave room for cables and the lid latch.
A lid riser only adds height. It does not fix a pack that is too wide or too deep. That is why the 72V 50Ah pack above is not listed as a Light Bee drop-in, even though it is a strong pack for larger frames. If your compartment is larger than stock, or you have a custom frame, use the custom form below and send your measurements.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between Samsung 50G and 50S?
A: 50G is for range and stable output at moderate power. 50S is for high discharge, so it holds voltage better under hard throttle. Choose 50G for range, 50S for high current.
Q: Can I use my stock 60V charger on BOOANT batteries?
A: Check the label. 60V packs here use a 67.2V charger. If your stock charger is also 67.2V, it matches. 72V packs need an 84V charger, included as 5A for 30Ah and 10A for 50Ah.
Q: Will a 72V battery run on my stock controller?
A: No. Stock controllers protect at 60V. You need an aftermarket controller that accepts 72V nominal, 84V full charge, such as Torp, EBMX, or Fardriver.
Q: Will the 72V 50Ah pack fit my Light Bee?
A: No, on paper. It measures 300 x 240 x 160 mm, wider and deeper than the stock compartment above. Choose 72V 30Ah for a Light Bee, or send your measurements for a larger frame.
